All of the following crafts can be done in an hour or less, allowing girls ages four to ten to enjoy the rest of a birthday party in high-style with their new glamorous accessories. Invite girls to wear dresses to the party and set the tone with soft instrumental music in the background. When doing art projects with a group of children, have all the supplies ready and set off to the side. Bring out only what you want the girls to use.
Sparkly Beaded Necklace or Bracelet
Use sparkle pony beads, thin ribbon, and tapestry needles. Cut the ribbon to a length that will allow the necklace to go over the girls’ heads. Use white ribbon to allow the color of the beads to shine. Tie one bead to an end of the ribbon so the beads don’t slide off as they are strung.
Thread the ribbon through a tapestry needle (use plastic needles for young children) to ease stringing the beads onto the ribbon. Children can string the entire ribbon or half of the ribbon and then double knot the ribbon. To make a bracelet, cut enough ribbon to string the beads and tie it around the wrist. Leave the bracelet a bit loose so it can be slid over the widest part of the hand.
