Cinderella is an example of a woman who scrubs and cooks for her evil stepmother (a typical Disney villain) in Walt Disney’s 1950 film by the same name, Cinderella. She is dependent on finding a man to come and sweep her off her feet, and save her from this slave like lifestyle, similar to Snow White.

Cinderella is beautiful, obedient and forever dreaming of her prince charming, who it seem she believes will come if she is just patient and dutiful. Her beauty and overall virtue we can only assume is the source of her stepmother’s evil nature, allowing us to see her and her two daughters actions as produced out of jealousy.

The Evil Stepmother’s Evil Source:

It is easy to argue that the primary source of the stepmother’s evil nature could come from the death of her husband, Cinderella’s father, as perhaps she has lost control of herself through her loss of a man’s support, beginning her decent into evil. Indeed the film even opens up to say “it was upon the untimely death of this good man, that the stepmother’s true nature was revealed,” portraying how a woman can lose all sense of what is good when they are not kept grounded by a husband.
