You finally figured out how to use Facebook, you've gotten in touch with that girl you used to go ice skating with and now have a nostalgic date marked on your calendar. Problem is, you haven't hit the ice in a decade or two. If you're about to head out to the rink for a date like this, here's a refresher course you might find helpful.
Get Prepared
The first step is to call it skating, instead of ice skating. The second step is to get a pair of skates that fit. The third step is to find a frozen lake or a skating rink with public skating. In Canada, there are thousands of skating rinks.
Walking on the rubber matting in the skating rink is a good way to begin. The next step, of course, is to walk onto the ice. Staying close to the edge of the rink might be a good idea so you can grab on to the wall around the perimeter before you fall. You might also want to practice falling.
